Curriculum
River Mill Curriculum
The River Mill curriculum is broad and balanced and has high expectations for all learners. It provides all children from nursery up to Year 6 with the motivation to acquire the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to succeed in later life.
The breadth of our curriculum moves beyond the national curriculum offer. As our school is in an area strongly driven by engineering and manufacturing industries we have enhanced our curriculum through our STEM focus.
At River Mill we teach reading, writing and maths every day and science, RE, PSHE, music, modern foreign languages (French) and PE every week. We have a two-week timetable for foundation subjects - art/dt and geography/history are taught on a two-week rotation.

Forest School
Forest School
Forest Schools originated in Scandinavia in the 1950s as a way of learning about the natural world. Through play, children learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others. Sessions run throughout the year in all weathers. Children explore, play, learn boundaries of behaviour and grow in confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
